Stage 4

THE LONG DAY FOR A BREAKAWAY

“The longest stage of this year’s Tour of Austria at just under 200 km. Optimal for a breakaway. After the start in St.Johann Alpendorf, the profile till Steyr won`t be that difficult. But coming close to the finish the final kilometers will then turnout really selectively. First the mountain classification in Saass, then a sprint classification right on the town square in Steyr and finally the Porscheberg, with its up to 15% steep. It’s going to be a tough battle between the sprinters and the breakaways. In Steyr I expect a sprint with almost 50 riders”.

St.Johann Alpendorf

A feel-good oasis in Salzburg. Access to the extensive Snowspace Salzburg ski area. And in summer a hiking area with a great offer of fine hotels.

“With a network of bike and trail paths spanning more than 500 kilometers, the Snow Space Salzburg holiday region is one of the most popular bike hotspots in the Alps. Signs such as the tour stop of the Großglockner royal stage of the Tour of Austria in St. Johann/Alpendorf or the ultimate bike challenge Stoneman Taurista underpin the varied and varied offer for families, mountain and e-bikers as well as racing cyclists in the heart of the Salzburger Land”, praises Wolfgang Hettegger, CEO of Snow Space Salzburg, the cycling advantages of his region.

Steyr

Third largest city in Upper Austria. With a beautiful baroque old town ensemble and great Austrian industrial tradition, such as the story about Steyr Daimler Puch.

Mayor Ing. Markus Vogl : “As the mayor of the city of Steyr, I am very pleased that the 72nd Int. Tour of Austria makes a stop in our beautiful city this summer. The people of Steyr are given the opportunity to experience top-class sport right on their doorstep. Our city will offer a great backdrop for this event and at the same time the media attention to the tour is of enormous value for the entire region and the city of Steyr.”
