Stage 1
July 3rd 2024
Kickoff in the deeply cycling-enthusiastic south of Austria
“We are very pleased to announce that we will be starting the first stage of the Tour of Austria 2024 in the cycling region of Burgenland. The start and finish line will be in Bad Tatzmannsdorf, from where the route leads through the charming thermal landscape of southern Burgenland. The profile is perfect for warming up ahead of the challenging tests of this tour. It’s not really super tough, but one must not underestimate the undulating profile at all. And there is, (of course,) the wind. In this open landscape, it can quickly become unpleasant and challenging for breakaway groups. Along the newly redesigned cycling paths on the old railway line between Oberschützen and Rechnitz, the peloton rolls with an additional loop into the technically challenging finale at the stage destination of Bad Tatzmannsdorf.”
