The ultimate Glockner Stage. Steep, difficult, and very beautiful.
“Once again this year, the Glockner stage will bring a preliminary decision in the battle for the overall victory. After starting from St. Johann Alpendorf, one needs good legs to get to the toll booth in Ferleiten. Then it’s a steep climb of 1,300 meters. First, the mountain classification of the highest category at the Fuschertörl, 2,428 meters, where this year’s Glockner King will be crowned, and then the Hochtor, at 2,504 meters, the roof of the tour. After a rapid descent, the next obstacle awaits: the Iselsberg. Then the sprint classification in Lienz, before the finale begins in Huben, with the 12-kilometer ascent up to the mountaineering village of Kals at the foot of the Großglockner. The 500-meter uphill sprint before the finish demands everything from the boys. It will be a battle between the best!”
