Lidl Tour of Austria Receives Top Marks from the UCI

The 2026 Lidl Tour of Austria, held from July 8 to 12, delivered the long-awaited home victory with Gregor Mühlberger claiming the overall victory. Tens of thousands of spectators cheered on the riders in the stage host towns from Graz to Vienna and along the entire route. Now, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) has also awarded Austria’s most scenic sightseeing tour top marks.

After every international cycling race, the UCI conducts a comprehensive evaluation. As in the previous year, the Tour of Austria proved to be a model event and received an outstanding report. Every race on the UCI calendar is assessed using a three-colour rating system: RED (unsatisfactory), ORANGE (needs improvement), and GREEN (very good). The final assessment was excellent news for the organisers. Race safety was exceptionally well managed, while the medical services delivered outstanding work. The race was broadcast live on ORF, Eurosport and via livestream on K19. The strong mix of UCI WorldTeams and UCI Continental Teams provided young riders with an excellent opportunity to compete against experienced top-level professionals. Throughout the event, the race commissaires worked seamlessly with race management. Large crowds lined the roads, particularly on the climbs and in the start and finish areas.

“This excellent result, which also reflects the quality of the hotels and the overall organisation of the event, is a tremendous acknowledgement for our entire team, all our volunteers, as well as our partners and sponsors,” said Organising Committee Chairman Rupert Hödlmoser. The Tour of Austria organising team now intends to carry this positive momentum into next year, when the 76th edition of the Lidl Tour of Austria will take place from July 7 to 11, 2027.
