Grand Depart in Graz

For our team WSA KTM Graz, it is a special pleasure that the Tour of Austria returns to Graz for its Grand Depart for the first time since 2017. There is nothing better than starting the 75th edition of the race in our home city and in front of our fans.

However, this opening stage will be anything but a gentle warm-up. After the rolling hills of Western Styria, demanding climbs await the riders in the final section through the picturesque South Styrian wine region. The stage will likely be decided on the final circuit through the vineyards, where a challenging mountain classification just before the finish in Gamlitz could make the difference.

Having both the start and finish in our home region will hopefully encourage many fans to follow the race from Graz to Gamlitz – ideally by bike.

URBAN LIFESTYLE & UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE

The Graz region uniquely combines vibrant urban life with diverse natural experiences, offering ideal conditions for cycling. From the historic old town of Graz – a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999 – to gentle hills and challenging climbs, the region provides a wide range of routes for professionals and leisure cyclists alike.

Cycling is a central part of the tourism offering, as it sustainably connects activity, culinary experiences, and nature. It can even be experienced digitally through Austria’s first 360° virtual cycling world.

With the Tour of Austria, the Graz region moves into the global spotlight – a valuable opportunity to present itself as an attractive, active, and livable destination and to inspire visitors from around the world.

CYCLING ALONG AUSTRIA’S MOST BEAUTIFUL WINE ROADS

It is a great honor to be part of the cycling family in the anniversary year “75 Years Tour of Austria.”

This stage leads through one of Austria’s most spectacular wine regions – along the South Styrian Sausal, and Schilcher wine roads. The rolling winding landscape with its sweeping views and impressive panoramas is made for cycling.

At the same time, the region stands for genuine hospitality and a rich culture of enjoyment. Visitors experience wine, cuisine, and nature at an exceptional level. The South Styria region invites everyone to explore this unique wine landscape at their own pace beyond the race.
